As 2017 comes to a close, we are down to our final 4 Sundays of the 30-30-30 Challenge. This challenge was initiated through the leadership of our men. Now I am asking our courageous men to carry it to completion.
So where are we right now?
To date, 27 new households have attended worship or discipleship at Redland, and 15 people have made a faith profession. That’s worth celebrating!
But before we work on our endzone celebration, let’s cross the goal line. We’ve got 3 more new households to go to reach the goal. We are also just halfway to our goal of 30 faith professions.
How can you help?
Start looking for opportunities to have the right, God-ordained conversations to draw people in deeper commitment, whether through a faith decision or coming to worship/discipleship. A step further? Don’t just look for opportunities; create opportunities while partnering with the Spirit.
As we enter a time of increased receptivity to spiritual things, let’s band together and see this challenge through to completion. To put it another way, the God whom you and I were called to imitate began a good work in each of us, which He will see through to completion. We follow him by doing the same.
What else is happening in Men’s Min?
While I have you, let me share that since our Sep. 30 dinner event, we have had a very successful “soft” run of our Men’s Bible study series. We’re ready to invite more to be part of a new round beginning in January. It’s just 8 weeks. Look for more information soon from our Men’s Min Director, Matt Horton.
I am thankful to God for each of you, and I look forward to what God will do through the men of Redland who are mobilized for His purpose.
Your partner in ministry,
Did you know that a growing group of men have begun meeting for Bible study and discussion? The study is an 8 week series on Friendship. Too many men have become isolated from strong, male friendships. Many friendships aren’t of a caliber that truly encourages them to pursue a man’s walk with Christ. The result leaves men disconnected, which is described as “being two quarts low in their spiritual lives” – everything is harder! These meetings are all about helping men transform through strong relationships.
Men, age 16 and up, you are invited to jump into the process.
- Tuesdays at 6:00 pm
- Tuesdays at 7:45 pm
- Thursdays at 6:00 am
For more information, contact Matt Horton or the church office.
All men are invited to join us for the Manly Potluck Dinner. Bring your specialty dish – whether a gourmet food or a even bag of chips. We will vote favorite dishes (with prizes) and play some table games. You’ll hear an encouraging message from a guest speaker and get updates on what’s coming up in Men’s Ministry. Saturday, September 30, 6:00pm in the ROC Foyer.

On June 10, about 60 men came together in the ROC Foyer to discover the path for our re-launched Men’s Ministry Program and to get challenged by our pastor’s vision for the remainder of 2017.
Why it mattered
- A movement of men immediately rallied around a BIG goal for our church
- Significant progress was made as men took the first steps to implement the challenge
- Men now know how vital they are to a cause which cannot be accomplished without them.
- Ideas from Saturday’s event are being reviewed this week to determine the best ones to accomplish right away.
- Teams will be formed around the larger initiatives in order to get traction quickly.
- July 16 check-in for men after the 11:00am worship service
- Skill builder studies this fall to sharpen men as they seek to follow Christ and be leaders at home, at church, at work, and in the community.
The 30 – 30 – 30 Challenge
We want 30 new households to attend a worship or discipleship event at Redland, plus 30 new professions of faith, all within the remaining 30 Sundays of 2017. To do this, we need our men – and women and children/youth – to rise up and pull together. Look for updates as this challenge progresses!
