What is Ignition?
Ignition is a monthly leadership training night for youth (grades 6-12) who want to learn leadership skills and put them into practice. This is accomplished through training and practice.
Every Ignition night involves training on a leadership topic. The goal is for youth to learn and think through leadership ideas to develop thorough understanding.
Students don’t stop at training, because leadership doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Using the youth ministry as the setting, each night involves a planning time during which the training topic is implemented within the youth ministry. Students are empowered with ways to use their leadership skills in the real setting of our own youth ministry.

Is Attendance Required?
Like most of what we do, Ignition meetings will build upon each other. That means youth are encouraged to attend as many as they are able to make the most of the meetings. We will offer a special activity at the end of the school year for youth who have attended 6 or more Ignition meetings. This is a reward and a thank you to the students who have worked hard to be as involved as possible in Ignition.
SLU 101 Weekend Trip
In addition to our regular meetings, youth have the option to attend a special leadership weekend in Orlando, FL, January 15-18. This year is an exploratory trip, and you can see the details on the trip page.
