Ongoing Missions at Redland Baptist Church

Soup Kitchen

Join David and Conny Houser and their team as they minister every third Saturday at the Lord’s Table soup kitchen at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. This ministry involves setting tables, preparing and serving a meal and cleaning up afterwards. Several times a year our children’s mission groups make table favors or placemats for the guests.

Manna Food Center

John and Nancy Porter take a team once a quarter to the Manna Food Center in Gaithersburg to help sort canned food items and prepare it for distribution. This is a great way for a family to work together to minister to those in our community.

Baptist Family and Children’s Services

Twice a year, Redland teams with Baptist Family and Children's Services (BFCS). In the fall, we collect school supplies to be distributed to children in need. Donations of school supplies help children have a more successful year of learning. In December, we have an "Angel Tree" where folks may select a nametag to provide presents to children who might not otherwise receive them. Each child receives necessary items of clothing and a “toy” on their wish list

Habitat for Humanity

Members of Redland worked with Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County to complete a Habitat house in Poolesville that was built entirely through the efforts of local churches. Most recently we worked on townhouses in Maryland.

Amani ya Juu

Redland member Cathie Burke has been a missionary in Nairobi, Kenya with the Amani ya Juu project for many years. Amani teaches refugee women how to provide for themselves and their families, mostly with textile and jewelry products. Redland sent a team to Kenya in the summers of 2002 and 2007 to help with ministry and construction projects. To continue our relationships and ministry partnership, we've also hosted some of the Amani women. Most recently, we hosted a leadership team of ladies from Amani this spring for a Dessert Fellowship. Several times a year, Amani products are available for sale here at Redland.

Amani Watoto

Amani Watoto is a ministry to the children of refugee families. The proceeds from our new cookbook sales go towards this ministry.

Vacation Bible School

Every summer children in our community participate in Vacation Bible School. This is a fun way to teach children about God in a non-threatening atmosphere through games, stories, crafts, music and worship.

Sports Camp

Redland has successfully completed it’s third year of providing sports camps for children ages 4 through fifth grade. Children in our community have not only received instruction in sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball and flag football, but they have heard about God in daily devotionals presented at camp.

Mission Trips

Each Summer, Redland sends teams out into the mission fields around the country and the world to participate in various projects. Our youth have attended World Changers in Jefferson City, MO, Watertown, NY, Greenville, NC and Youngstown, OH. We have sent teams to Oriental, Mexico; Conway, NH; Nairobi, Kenya; Romania, and the Dominican Republic.
