The Redland Baptist Church Gospel Choir is under the direction of Mrs. Marilyn Jordan. This volunteer choral group is made up of people who love the Lord and love to sing His praises. There is no audition for membership in this choir but you must be able to match pitch and commit to regular attendance at rehearsals. The gospel choir rehearses on the first and fifth Sunday of each month from12:30-3:00 pm and leads monthly on the second Sunday during the11:00 AM service. The Gospel Choir performs yearly concerts here at Redland and throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The choir was selected to perform at the 2003, 2005, and 2007 Spoleto Festival of Churches in Charleston, South Carolina, as part of the annual Piccolo Spoleto Festival.
Though the choir performs all types of gospel music, they are dedicated to preserving the choral art form of the Negro spiritual. In 2010, the Redland Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its 24th year anniversary.
